Patrick McClellan
Ten years ago Patrick McClellan and his wife Jennifer left Orange County California (Pop. 3.2 Million) to live in Madison County Montana (Pop. 8 Thousand). They live four miles outside Sheridan MT (Pop. 706…after they got there). Ten years ago Patrick quit practicing law and began oil painting every chance he had. In 2016 and 2017 he had paintings accepted into national art shows sponsored by the Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. Patrick was recently honored by being invited to become a member of the Montana Painters Alliance.
Last year Patrick started painting primarily small paintings, most just 6” x 6”. He likes small paintings because “they can be started and finished in one short session, they are easier to handle while painting on the road and they are inexpensive and fun for art lovers to collect.”
In the last two years he has taken his small paintings to three local art festivals, where he spends time encouraging people to start their own personal art collections of small original paintings. Using his “miniature” oil paintings and matching floater frames, plus his First Strike program (see First Strike) he encourages art lovers to become art collectors (see Make Room for Miniatures).
